Volunteer Opportunities

Donate Your Time to Station Stitchers

Your time and skills are just as valuable as fabric and quilts! At Station Stitchers, we rely on dedicated volunteers to keep our charity quilting efforts running smoothly. Whether you sew, sort, or organize, there’s always a way to contribute.

Ways to Volunteer Your Time

Make or Finish a Quilt

  • Sew a Quilt Top – Use your own fabric or grab a pre-cut kit to piece a quilt top for donation.

  • Quilt a Top – If you have access to a domestic machine, help by quilting a top to finish it.

  • Bind a Quilt – Pick up a quilt that needs binding and give it the final touch before it’s gifted.

Prepare Quilts for the Long-Arm

  • Make a Backing – Quilt tops often wait in the donation bin. Please stop by, grab a few, and create matching backings to fit them.

  • Assemble “Franken-Backing” – Use donated scraps to piece together usable batting for charity quilts.

  • Attach Zippers for the Long-Arm – Help prepare tops by sewing zippers onto backing fabric so they are faster to load onto the quilting frame.

Help Organize and Prep Materials

  • Sort Fabric Donations – Help fold, organize, and sort donated fabric so it’s easy to use.

  • Make Quilt Kits – Cut and assemble fabric into kits for others to sew into quilt tops.

  • Prepare Fabric & Kits for Events – Help measure, cut, and package fabric for group sewing days.

Volunteer for Special Events

  • Assist at Sewing Days – Help set up, guide new volunteers, or sew alongside others.

  • Pick Up & Deliver Materials – Transport quilts, batting, or fabric between locations.

  • Spread the Word – Help with outreach by sharing Station Stitchers’ mission at community events.
